Middlesex Community College Dedicates Library Display on Hinduism

Display on Hiduism: Dr. Srinivasan A recent ceremony at Middlesex Community College was to dedicate the new library display on Hinduism and the Satyanaryana Hindu Temple and to honor the ongoing relationship between the temple and the College.

The Satyanaryana Hindu Temple is the major temple for Hinduism in Connecticut. Middlesex Community College Professor John Shafer, who teaches world religion, explained how special the goals of the temple are since they have many Hindu denominations with their various deities all worshipping under the same roof. “Bringing people together is a great goal.”

Shafer introduced Dr. A. V. (Sheenu) Srinivasan, one of the founders of the temple, to speak. Dr. Srinivasan pointed out a few things that were on display

including a book written by himself that condenses the beliefs of Hinduism into one volume, “A Hindu Primer YAKSHA PRASHNA.” Several books in the display have been donated to the College by the temple. “We are very happy to be a neighbor to Middlesex Community College. That relationship started right from when we were building our temple and the College let us use their parking lot on the weekends. It’s a great thing to have this relationship,” said Srinivasan.

Shafer also acknowledged the role of the library staff, especially Alma Zyko, in putting this display together.
