Online Student Orientation

Before your class starts , please do the following:

Click to go to step 1 Things you MUST do prior to the start of class

Click the "Step 1" arrow and do the following: take the self assessment, configure your computer, purchase your books, enter an external email into http://my.commnet.edu, and view the online orientation and the help desk information, and get the dates for the on-campus orientation sessions.

Go to step 2 Sign on and get familiar

Click the "Step 2" arrow to learn how to sign on and navigate your course. You must sign in between the 8th and 22nd (start of classes) to become familiar with navigation and your course interface. Starting November 21, registered students may be able to view the course site with online orientation, WebCT tutorial, or help information.  The most updated class information is available Jan. 22. You are recommended to sign on to your courses between January 8 and January 22 to get familiar with the interface.

Go to step 3 Learn to use basic tools
Click the "Step 3" arrow and visit our multimedia tutorials to learn how to use basic tools such as email, discussions, assignments and assessments.
Go to step 4 Read the tips for success
Click the "Step 4" arrow to learn about your responsibilities as an online learner and how you can work to ensure your success with technology and in the course
Go to step 5 Fill out the online class evaluation
Three weeks prior to the end of your online classes, you can click the "Step 5" button to complete the online course evaluation form. Your feedback is important to us and we ask that you fill out one evaluation for each online course you are taking at MxCC.
