We know you wouldn't buy a car you'd never driven (usually)... So why would you take an online class if you've never even seen how it works?
That's why we created a way for you to go in and play with one of our online courses.
You'll log onto our actual online site, vista.ctdlc.org, and sign on with a guest user name and password. You'll be able to click on a Psychology course that uses all the tools that our online classes use. You can view a sample syllabus, read announcements, check out the discussion board, and see just exactly how an online class works.
- Open up your web browser (internet explorer, firefox, safari, etc.)
- Go to http://vista.ctdlc.org
- Click "Connecticut Community Colleges"
- Click "Log In"
- Enter the following information*:
- Username: mxccstudent
- Password: mxccstudent
- Click on "MxCC Sample Online Course "
*We created five additional guest accounts so multiple users can log on simultaneously. Each guest account uses the same word for the username and password. The additional accounts are mxccstudent1 through mxccstudent5.
- Read the welcome statement and syllabus/course schedule
- Click on any of the tools on the course tool bar (announcements, email, calendar, discussions, my grades, assignments, assessments, etc.)
- View course content, learning objectives, PowerPoint presentations, etc.
- View and take any of the exams
- View and practice submitting assignments
- Learn about chat and whiteboard
- Practice navigation
This does happen.
If you can't log in, it usually means you need to configure your computer to work with our site.
For troubleshooting information, you can visit www.mxcc.commnet.edu/distance/trouble.shtml. This site gives you some tips on how to resolve the technological issues.
Don't despair: this is really good practice and, if you decide to take a class with us, you'll already have dealt with the technology issues and should be ready to go!
