Middlesex Community College (Middletown, Connecticut) offers a variety of online distance learning classes supported by WebCT Vista. These online classes run throughout a regular semester during spring, summer, and fall. You can take an online class 24/7-- anywhere, anytime without coming to our campuses. Many on-ground classes at MxCC also use WebCT as a supplemental tool to enhance student learning.

Log On to Online or WebCT Enhanced Classes

1. Open a web browser.

2. Go to my.commnet.edu.

3. Enter your NetID and password, click Login.

NetID : BannerID@student.commnet.edu
Example: 00707059@student.commnet.edu

Password: The same password to log on to a campus computer at any of 12 Connecticut community colleges.

If you have never logged on to a campus computer, the initial password is a combination of your first 3 letters of birth month (capitalize the first letter) and last four digit of your social security number.

For example, if you are born in April and the last four digits of your social security number are 4575, then your initial password is Apr&4575 (case sensitive).

After you logon with the initial password, you will be prompted to change to a new password.  The new password MUST have 8 or more characters and satisfy 3 of the 4 rules as follows:

  • Upper case
  • Lower case
  • Numbers
  • Special character

One example of a new password is Flower07 (case sensitive). Remember; do not use your name or birthday in the new password.

You have logged on to myCommNet but could not get to a WebCT course, click here for help information under Problem 1.
Disable pop-up blockers to ensure myCommNet function correctly.
Once you are in myCommNet, click WebCT Vista icon webct at upper right. Click the semester link (such as Spring 2008, Summer 2008, or Fall 2008). Click your course name. To go to another course, click MyWebCT (upper right) and click the course name.

4. Reset Password
(1). Reset password on your own at https://www.commnet.edu/netid/password.aspx

(2) Stop by the following offices (Mon-Fri, 8:30am-4:30pm) to make your request with your Photo ID.

  • Record’s Office, Founders 153, (860) – 343 - 5724
  • Meriden Center, Staff Desk (4th floor)
(3) For online students who are unable to come to campus during our office hours, a. FAX your request with a photo ID to (860) 344 – 7488. Write down and provide with the following in your FAX: Attention to: Distance Learning, your name, Banner ID, phone#, birth date, last four digit of your social security number, requesting to have your NetID password reset, signature, and Photo ID (Student ID or Driver’s License). After you FAX the request, notify Distance Learning staff at mxccedtech@gmail.com. Your request will be processed during Distance Learning office hours. b. Your may also use this Password Reset Form and FAX your request to the Record's Office at 860-344-3055.

5. Change Password
Logon to my.commnet.edu, click Change Password (top-middle).

To better serve students and staff during the Spring, Summer, and Fall academic semesters, we maintain the following schedule: Mon, Tues, and Fri, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm and Wed, Thurs, 8:30 am - 7:30 pm.

Outside of academic semesters, we are in our offices from Mon-Fri, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.
