Nursing Admission Requirements:
All of the following must be completed prior to the application deadline of February 1st of each year. Middlesex offers all the classes required to transfer into the Community College Nursing Programs.
- CHE 111 with a grade of C or higher successfully completed within 5 years prior ** to application deadline. Although one year of HS Chemistry with a lab with a grade of C or higher is the state requirement, MxCC students must take CHE 111 as it is the pre requisite for BIO 211.
- Accuplacer score above Connecticut Community College MAT 137; or completion of MAT 137, or higher, with a grade of C or higher.
- GPA 2.7 – This is the minimum GPA and is based on all college credits taken within the past five years. The GPA for college courses taken prior to five years will be calculated using only those courses transferred in to meet the nursing curriculum requirements.
- ATI-TEAS test score. Applicants must have a composite score of 65% or higher. The most recent test score taken before February 1 will be valid for three (3) years from the date of taking. (TEAS is explained on the back of this document)
- Computer literacy – Passing a computer proficiency test (not offered at MxCC); or completion of Connecticut Community College CSA 105 or equivalent or higher level course with a passing grade. (MxCC equivalent courses are being evaluated as of this printing)
- BIO 211: Anatomy and Physiology I with a grade of C+ or higher, successfully completed within 5 years prior** to application deadline. Note: BIO 121 and CHE 111 are prerequisites for MxCC BIO 211.
- ENG 101: English Composition with a grade of C+ or higher
- BIO 212: Anatomy and Physiology II with a grade of C+ or higher, successfully completed within 5 years prior** to application deadline or successfully completed during, but no later than the Spring semester of the application year. (For the application date February 1st 2008, BIO 212 could be completed during, but no later than Spring 2008)
- Applications to the Connecticut Community College Nursing Program (CT-CCNP) must be made by February 1st of each year for programs beginning the following September. Applications are made through the Admissions Office at the College of first choice (the college that you would most like to attend). Advisors/Counselors are available at each campus to guide applicants through the admission process. (Colleges are listed on the back of this document)
** For example, for the application date of February 1, 2008 “Five years prior” is defined as having completed the course between December 2002 and Feb. 1, 2008. General Education Courses
The courses below are additional courses required to graduate from a CT-CCNP program. These courses may be completed prior to the February 1st application date or while enrolled in a nursing program. Since nursing programs are academically demanding, students are encouraged to complete as many of these courses as possible before starting a nursing program.

NURSING ADMISSION TEST (ATI-TEAS)
Applicants must obtain a composite score of 65% or higher on the ATI-TEAS test. The fee for the test is $20.00. The test is a multiple choice test that evaluates essential academic skills: math, science, reading, and English. The test will take 3 ½ hours to complete. The ATI-TEAS Study Manual is available through www.ati.com., (cost is approximately $35.00). The study manual will assist you in preparing for the exam. It is recommended that applicants review biology and chemistry content in preparation for taking the ATI-TEAS Test.. The applicant can also subscribe to practice tests offered on-line by ATI. For more information about the ATI-TEAS Test, visit the ATI website at www.ati.com.An applicant may retake the ATI-TEAS test as many times is desired. There must be a 45 day period between each testing. Applicants are encouraged to prepare before taking the test or retaking the test. Test results are valid for three (3) years from the most recent test date. Testing Schedule – All five campuses offer the ATI-TEAS Testing. Go to College of First Choice website for all the testing schedules and registration information. If the test is taken at a site other than at one of the Connecticut Community Colleges, applicants must have official results sent by ATI to the College of First Choice.
